West Bromwich Albion remain 20th in the Premier League table after 3-0 loss to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge tonight, which means the Baggies are currently seven points adrift of safety.
Manager Alan Pardew reflected on the game: “It’s frustrating how many games I’ve sat afterwards and rued missed chances, we knew Chelsea were slightly wounded from their two recent defeats. We put high pressure on them, took some risks in terms of our set-up hoping to get an early chance”.
“It was unfortunate Jay didn’t take that touch into towards goal because I think he’s got an easy chance then. He takes it early, maybe thinks the goalie is not set and that would have been a major blow to Chelsea and changed the dynamic of the game. Again at 1-0 we had a big chance with Salomon”.
“A goal gives everybody a lift and we just couldn’t get it. Jonny Evans’ header was also at 1-0. Three big chances. When you come to a top club like this, with top players, you’ve got to hurt them and we couldn’t do that.”
