Tottenham Hotspurs manager Mauricio Pochettino has admitted that the Spurs may not be in the best condition during Sunday’s clash against Chelsea but despite his team will try to do everything to get the three points at White Hart Line.
Since the opening day of the Premier League season, the Spurs are unbeaten and yesterday they qualified for the next stage of the Europa League. Good performances of the team may give rise to optimism before the game against Chelsea, but Tottenham manager cools the emotions.
The coach reminded everyone that his team had played lately a lot of meetings in a small period of time and may not be in top condition during a Sunday game.
Pochettino told TalkSport:
“We will make sure we will arrive in good condition to play Chelsea,”
“It is true we arrive maybe not in the best condition to compete in the right way but respect to our medical staff for what they do. On Saturday we will assess.”
“I feel we have enough quality and a strong squad,”
”I think the senior players and the young players that come through the academy can help us in the very busy period we have ahead. I am very confident we have a squad strong enough to compete in every competition.”
“It’s too early, but it’s true the feeling is very good from the beginning of the season. The way that we play, from last season, we have improved a lot. We are very happy with the way we are playing,”
“For us it’s important to take it step by step. We are in a good position in the table but, like with last season, the most important thing is to finish higher.
“We need to keep calm and perform, as well as to have that strong mentality to compete in the Premier League or Europa League, and the FA Cup. It’s very important to be strong and to follow the same way we have gone from the beginning.”
On Harry Kane:
“He’s doing very well.”
“It’s not just scoring goals, he works very hard and is very important for the team, and I’m happy for him to get another goal.”
On Tottenham’s recent victory over Qarabag:
“Qarabag are a good side so we had to stay patient. We knew chances would come, not so much in the first half but in the second we created a lot.
“It was a very difficult place to go and we showed great quality. For us to qualify, and win the group as well, is a great achievement.”
