Chelsea wing-back Marcos Alonso has confirmed his teammate and compatriot Alvaro Morata is keen to be included in the 23-man-squad for World Cup 2018 in Russia next summer.
“Alvaro was not happy [with the decision]” Alonso told Spanish reporters.
“He has gone through a difficult few months with a back injury. He is now 100 per cent and the other day he scored”.
Marcos Alonso added: “Morata is a very important player for us. I hope he will do well from here until the end of the season and he gets to go to the World Cup.”
Spain will be facing Germany and Argentine in two friendlies respectively set on Friday 23 March and Tuesday 27 March.
