Chelsea manager Antonio Conte spoke ahead of next Premier League clash against Arsenal at Emirates Stadium today. The Italian boss had his say on transfer market window, which re-opens on January 3rd.
“The club has to take the best decision for the team – Conte told journalists in Cobham – I am the coach and my main task is to work on the pitch with my players. If the club decides to ask me something about my team I try to give my opinion”.
“There’s a lot of speculation and it’s normal when the transfer window starts. It’s difficult for every coach. For us, I think this period we must be very focused on our target. Tomorrow we have a tough game against Arsenal and we need to find the right concentration”.
When asked if Chelsea could place a bid to land Juventus defender Giorgio Chiellini to Stamford Bridge, Conte said: “No, Giorgio is a good player but he’ll want to finish his career at Juventus. It’s right to finish his career in this way”.
“For every coach it’s the same situation. I’m used to working on the pitch. I’ll give my opinion if the club ask for it for where we can strengthen. The club then decide what’s the best for the team”.
