Antonio Conte is convinced new signing Davide Zappacosta can make an impact at Chelsea.
The Blues boss knew the Italian wing-back from his days with the national team and didn’t hesitate to sign him on summer transfer window deadline day, when he realized it was impossible to sign Chelsea main target for the the same role, Alex Sandro.
Speaking about the Italy international during today’s press conference, Conte said:
“Davide played a game against Israel with the national team, he worked with me in the national team, he knows my idea of football very well, for this reason for him it’s more simple to adapt to a new style of football.
“He is a good player, he’s young, so he has a lot of time to improve, he’s our right wing-back, sometimes he can play on the left.
“For sure it’s a great chance for him, he arrives in a big club, he’s to get the right mentality because it’s not easy to work in such big clubs, don’t forget Torino is a good club and with a huge history, and having lived in Turin I know that there some kind of pressure there.
“Of course it’s not easy for him to arrive in a new country and to adapt to a new kind of football.”
