Mark Hughes on the defeat: “It’s a blow”

Southampton‘s manager Mark Hughes is very disappointed after his team loss to Chelsea this afternoon: a defeat which could cost the Saints the relegation.

It’s a blow. They’ve taken blows all year. We need to stick our chests out and get on with it”. Hughes said. “We had a bad period for eight to ten minutes. Antonio’s got a top reaction from his players. It’s disappointing two games running now. People will say we deserved something out of both of them. It’s a case of understanding the group and games like this. I know now which guys I can trust and use. It simplifies my choice in selection”.

Then Hughes commented also on Marcos Alonso‘s challenge on Tadic: “Poor challenge. Should have been a red card. The officials were all within a 10-15 yard radius. It was a bad tackle and it could have had serious consequences for Shane. Referees have got to get them right. Maybe that’s why they’re not at the World Cup this summer”.
