Mourinho: “Manchester United versus Chelsea are big matches”

Speaking to the press ahead of Sunday game vs Chelsea, Manchester United’s manager José Mourinho claimed that, even if neither the Red Devils nor the Blues are fighting for the Premier League title, the clash between these two teams remains always very important:

For the past 10-15 years, Manchester United versus Chelsea are big matches. This is one more – different circumstances because many times these were matches for the title and this time I think us and them would agree that’s not the case. But we both play for the top four and it’s a big game regardless of what’s at stake. Last season, they were fighting to be champions and we were not even fighting to be in the top four but it was still a big game.” Mourinho said. “To play against Chelsea means less and less and less over the years, so of course I left already a couple of years ago and next season three years ago and the year later four years ago. So, I hope step by step that feeling of ‘I was the Chelsea manager’ or ‘I was their manager’ for them disappears. The real meaning of it is that it’s two of the best teams in England and two of the biggest clubs playing one more match.”
