Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri has confirmed he would be “open” to the idea of John Terry returning to the club after the 37-year-old turned down a lucrative offer from Spartak Moscow earlier this week.
The Italian boss told journalists: “Last time I spoke to him he told me he wants to play for another season. That was about a week ago. I don’t know now the situation”.
“Chelsea is his home. I am open to the idea [of him returning], of course. For sure he would be a point of reference for me, for everybody I think”.
“I don’t know if there is a chance; he told me he wants to play. It’s up to him. If he wants to play for another season, it’s right he tries to play. If he wants to help us, I am really very happy”.
John Terry spent last campaign at Championship side Aston Villa, having left Chelsea in 2017, and is reportedly considering a staff role at Stamford Bridge.
