Former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is said to have requested a pep-talk with Roman Abramovich before he was sacked on Thursday.
Mourinho was dismissed after a torrid title defence, where the Blues lost nine of their 16 league games under the Portuguese.
However, reports in the Telegraph claim that Mourinho himself was adamant that a pep-talk between Abramovich and the Chelsea players would have been what was needed to turn their season around.
But, the Russian only did so on Friday – the day after Mourinho’s dismissal. At the club’s Cobham training ground, he said it was the players’ responsibility to change their fortunes.
After his sacking, Mourinho returned to Cobham at on Friday morning to collect his personal possessions from his office.
He wasn’t spoken to in person by any of the key figures at the club, including Abramovich and technical director Michael Emenalo.
Reports claim that Mourinho also hasn’t been contacted by club chairman Bruce Buck, club secretary David Barnard or director Marina Granovskaia.
