Reports from the Daily Star have claimed that Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich won’t sanction the buying of a striker until Loic Remy is offloaded.
The Blues are reportedly in talks for a £10 million move for Corinthians striker Alexandre Pato, with Diego Costa their only fully fit striker.
Remy has struggled to hold down a first team place since his move to Stamford Bridge from QPR in 2014, scoring just 12 goals in 33 appearances. Only 13 of those have been starts.
Despite this, the Frenchman has attracted interest from fellow Premier League sides Aston Villa, Crystal Palace and Newcastle United.
However, Abramovich isn’t said to be keen on Remy, and is keen to see him gone before he allows any move for a striker.
No firm offer has been made for Remy, with manager Guus Hiddink earlier stating that Remy remained a Chelsea player.
