Chelsea won a crucial game in the title race with a confidence-boosting victory at Stamford Bridge tonight.
Antonio Conte beat Manchester City 2-1 at home thanks to Eden Hazard‘s brace; the Belgian star opened the scoring after 10′ while Argentine star Sergio Aguero leveled the game at 25′, before Hazard again converted to goal a penalty well saved by Caballero.
Then Chelsea managed to maintain their gap despite Pep Guardiola‘s men had great chances to equalize also in the second half. Thibaut Courtois made some great saves but his goalkeeping mistake secured Manchester City the equalizer. Courtois himself denied a goal for the Citizens a few minutes later, when Leroy Sané went close to scoring from a counter-attack.
Defender John Stones missed a clear chance kicking the ball over the bar in the extra-time.
Chelsea bounced back from their last home defeat against Crystal Palace.
