Chelsea have rejected a surprise transfer deadline day bid from Atletico Madrid for striker Diego Costa, just one-and-a-half seasons after the Spaniard left the Vicente Calderon.
The Mirror claim that the Blues were offered a hefty, yet undisclosed, cash sum, as well as Jackson Martinez, who despite only signing for Madrid last summer has failed to live up to expectations.
The Colombian has scored just three goals in 22 appearances, apparently pushing Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone to make a bid for his former frontman.
Costa left Madrid in 2014 for £32 million, winning the title in a hugely successful first season. Despite struggling to find form under former Jose Mourinho earlier this season, he has scored six goals in six games under interim boss Guus Hiddink.
It is reported that Chelsea rejected the bid immediately, insisting that none of their star players were up for sale.
