Chelsea have turned down an offer of £35 million from Monaco for Jose Mourinho, according to reports in the English press this morning.
The Mail says that the Ligue 1 club, who have reportedly sought Mourinho’s services in the past, are hoping to benefit from Chelsea’s terrible start to the season.
The Blues are currently 15th in the Premiership table- 14 points behind leaders Man City- having won just three matches all season. There is unprecedented pressure on Jose Mourinho with rumours of an imminent sacking.
Monaco, the parent club of on loan Chelsea forward Radamel Falcao, have reportedly offered a way out of the mess by buying out Mourinho’s contract- roughly £35-40 million- but Chelsea have flatly refused, according to the Mail.
Mourinho has said over and over again that he has no intention of leaving Chelsea. The club for its part released a statement a few weeks ago stating their support for the Portuguese. ChelseaNews24 reported yesterday that former Chelsea forward Andriy Shevchenko claims Mourinho retains the support of owner Roman Abramovich.
Should the Mail be correct then it is yet another sign that Mourinho will not be leaving Chelsea any time soon.
