Chelsea’s clash with Arsenal on Saturday will be refereed by Mike Dean, with this week’s refereeing appointments released today.
47-year old Dean will be joined by assistant referees Simon Long and Stuart Burt. Michael Oliver, who sent off Blues goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois on the opening day of the season against Swansea, will be making his first return to Stamford Bridge since the start of the season as fourth official.
Thus far in this campaign, Dean has refereed West Brom’s 0-3 defeat to Manchester City, Manchester United’s 0-1 win over Aston Villa, Norwich’s 1-1 draw with Stoke and Leicester’s miraculous 3-2 win yesterday, also over Villa. He also refereed Bristol City’s 1-2 defeat to Burnley in the Championship.
In his four Premier League games this season, he has already given out 17 yellow cards, and no red cards.
