Chelsea striker Diego Costa admits that he is desperate to win next season’s Champions League.

The Spanish striker still can’t accept defeat against PSG in the last-16 in the last edition of the Champions League. Even worse memories are coming back from the Champions League final in 2014 when he was playing at Atletico. Los Colchoneros led until the 90th minute to then lose 4-1in overtime.

That is why Chelsea striker is really desperate to win next season’s Champions League.

Costa told the Mirror:

“I think any player in the world would want to win the Champions League. It’s a very different tournament to any other and is really great to play in.”

“I came very close, but then I got injured and I don’t think we had the luck we deserved. But you have to work really hard in the Champions League because it’s not an easy tournament to win.

“It’s a competition that demands a lot of you, and any mistake can really hurt you because there are some great teams in it.”

“We are going to fight hard and prepare well to do our best this season to see if we can get as far as we can in the competition, or even, fingers crossed, win the thing.’

“I think the manager has the squad and the team that is capable of winning this trophy. He knows what he wants and the players know what is needed to do well in all the competitions that we take part in.”

“I think we have all in our favour to have a great season and that’s what we’ll be fighting and battling hard to achieve, because there is a lot of talent and desire in this group of players, and I think we are in a good position to have an outstanding season.”
