After failing to secure John Stones from Everton last summer, Jose Mourinho the then Chelsea boss signed Senegalese international Papy Djilobodji from Nantes to add depth to his team.
The deal was between £3m and £4m and contracted the player to Stamford Bridge for 4 years. Since signing for Chelsea, the 27-year-old has appeared for just 62 seconds as a late substitute. The centre back is still unclear why he was given such little opportunity to prove himself.
“Really, I don’t know. I gave everything.” He told German newspaper gild.
“But the coaches have decided it. For me, it is also incentive for me to work hard.”
Djilobodji is currently on loan with Werder Bremen and it is believed the German side are trying to sign the player on a more permanent basis.
