Gianluca Nani: “Conte will certainly bring in great players”

Gianluca Nani is a former West Ham and Watford technical director, and now works for Al Jazeera as a Premier League expert. Interviewed by tuttomercatoweb.com about incoming nomination of Antonio Conte as new manager of Chelsea, the expert said: “First of all, I’m glad that Conte goes to Chelsea because he is a great coach and will make a good impression for Italy, just like almost all of the Italian managers abroad. At Chelsea he will not find difficulty, since he coached Juve winning so much and I don’t think at Chelsea it will be different. You’ll find an excellent organisation as indeed he had at Juve and the national team. And I am convinced that next year, with managers as Conte, Guardiola and Ranieri, it will be a very beautiful Premier League.”

About the possible problems with the new language, he said: “Conte is intelligent, if he doesn’t already speak English then he will learn it in a short time. From here to June he will definitely study it, partly because the messages to the team through the interpreter don’t have the same strength.”

About bringing Leonardo Bonucci to Chelsea: “Generally there are players who can adapt to many leagues. In England, the league is very physical and based on force, however, it must be said that when levels rise and we talk of big teams like Real Madrid, Manchester United, Barcelona or Juventus, we must check if the players have the characteristics to be in this level. Conte will certainly bring in great players, great players are required. If he brings Bonucci back, Conte knows him better than anyone. If he bets on him, he is certainly the right player.”
