Hazard has been a key man for the Blues this season

The Belgium playmaker was substituted after 62 minutes of his sides win against Israel.

After initially expressing distain at his substitution, Hazard admitted that he may be tired from the amount of games he’s featured in this season.

The 24-year-old has played 48 games for club and country already this season, missing just five matches for Chelsea and being an ever present in their campaign to win the Premier League.

Hazard appeared to shoot his manager a disapproving look as he left the pitch and after the game said: “I was a little bit surprised to be substituted,

“Also, I was a little bit unhappy and I think you could see that I was unhappy.

“I asked the coach for a reason and he told me that I was tired. Maybe I was a little bit tired. I’ve played a lot of games this season.”

Marc Wilmots spoke about his decision after the game, adding: “Hazard is not hurt, but I had the impression that he was tired. In these kind of games, you have to react immediately because we did not have time.”

Belgium went on to win the game 1-0, with captain Vincent Kompany being sent off for a second bookable offence just moments after Hazard was replaced by Nacer Chadli.
