Chelsea and MK Dons kicked off their 4th Round replay at Stadium MK this afternoon.
Chelsea started by far the brighter side with some excellent chances to take the lead. After fantastic build up play from Hazard, Oscar tees up Diego Costa to force a reaction stop from Martin at point-blank range. This was followed by more great build up play and forced countless saves from Martin. This continued until the 15th minute when Diego Costa intercepted a back pass to feed Oscar to slide the ball into an open net and make it 1-0 to the reigning Premier League Champions.
The Blues looked well on top and deserving of their lead with 20 year-old Ruben Loftus-Cheek firing straight at Martin from close range. This was before a long range strike from Potter took a huge deflection from Matic to loop in over Courtois and make it 1-1.
Hazard broke free just a few minutes after the equaliser one-on-one with Martin only to see his shot saved onto the post. Soon after, Baba Rahmen quickly broke in behind the Dons defence to pass the ball across goal only for Costa to take it off of Oscars toes and poke the ball wide for what would’ve been a simple finish for the Brazilian.
With Chelsea well on top and finding huge gaps in the Dons midfield, Ruben Loftus-Cheek found space between the midfield and defence to play the ball in behind for Oscar to smash the ball across Martin’s goal for the Blues, to make it 2-1 just after the half hour mark. Just before half-time Oscar bursts down the left wing to cut inside on to his right foot and drove the ball into the net to complete a brilliant first half hat-trick and give Chelsea a well deserved 3-1 lead.
