According to the Daily Star José Mourinho is ready to cut his wages to get Manchester United job.

With Van Gaal on the brink after an awful run of six games without a win, the place at Old Trafford can become available soon.

The Portuguese coach was earning £10m per year at Chelsea, that made him the best paid manager in the Premier League, but he would cut his wages of £4m per year to become the Red Devils boss, with a total pay cut of £16m in a normal 4-year-contract.

Always according to the Star, a source close to Mourinho said:

“Jose is making no secret of how keen he is to take charge of United if the job becomes available.

“It is not about the money. Managing United has always been one of his ambitions because of the prestige and history associated with the club.

“He knows it would be a huge challenge, but he loves working in English football and would take a wage cut if it meant getting the chance to make United great again.”
