Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel has had his international performances praised by Nigeria boss Sunday Oliseh.
Despite the 2-0 loss to the Democratic Republic of Congo, Oliseh said he was impressed with Mikel’s commanding display.
“Mikel played very well and I am impressed with his performance in the game,” the Eagles coach said.
“He carried the team well and dictated the pace.”
Thursday’s friendly was Mikel’s first game under Oliseh, but the Nigeria boss said that the Blues man filled all expectations:
“He was mobile and did what I asked him to do, leading others and telling them what to do, that’s what is expected of him.
“It’s been long I saw him play that way, I hope this continues.”
