Chelsea midfielder Oscar was hospitalized today for suspected concussion.
The Brazilian player suffered a frightening collision during the game at Emirates this evening with Arsenal goalkeeper Daniel Ospina: the referee refused to whistle a penalty kick for Chelsea, as Oscar laid down on the pitch half conscious.
He was attended by Chelsea medical staff, who authorized him to play all the rest of the first half ( we were in minute 16′) due to the new protocol that was established in the beginning of this year – Club doctor got the power to decide whether a player who sustains a head injury is capable of returning. Previously, team management made that decision. A player who injures his head also now must leave the field before any evaluation is made.
At half time Drogba replaced Oscar, who went to the hospital to undergo some exams.
Mourinho admitted at the end of the game: “He went for a scan because we were a little scared” and then he declared that they still haven’t known if there was any update.
We will do our best to update you on the situation in the next hours.
