Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino reacted to the defeat in today’s derby against Chelsea.
Speaking about the differences between last season and now at this point of the league, he said:
“We are in a better position than last season. We play one step higher than last season. I’m not worried about the team.”
Today Spurs made their debut at Wembley, that will be their home until the new White Hart Lane will be ready. Last year they used the same stadium to play their Champions League and Europa League games, but they didn’t succeed:
“It doesn’t affect me. But I understand. We need to talk about it. Wembley is not the reason we lost. We played very well. It’s not fair to blame Wembley, it’s one of the best places in the world to play football.
“Wembley wasn’t the problem. We played better with the size of the pitch. We need to be more clinical. We created enough opportunities. We will win a lot of games in the future.”
“We deserved more. I’m happy with the performance. We created the most chances. They were clinical. It was difficult to score for us.
“We were much better than Chelsea. They tried to contain us and play on the counter. I’m very happy. We were a little unlucky. I’m not upset or frustrated. If you lose in that way, I’m happy.”
