Cech left Chelsea last summer after eleven years and many trohpies

Petr Cech has been sold to Arsenal for a reported £11 million, according to numerous reports in the English media.

Cech, 33, has completed a move that was reportedly agreed in principle some time ago, and could make his debut for Arsenal against Chelsea in the Charity Shield at Wembley, the traditional curtain raiser for the English football season.

He signed for Chelsea in 2004 and quickly asserted himself as one of the greatest goalkeepers in the world; he was a vital part of Jose Mourinho’s first Chelsea team which won the club’s first Premiership and league title for 50 years. He will perhaps be best remembered for his heroics in the Champions League final in 2012 in which he saved three penalties, two in the deciding shoot-out, against Bayern Munich that brought Europe’s premiers competition for the first time.

He has been allowed to leave after being displaced by Thibaus Cortois in the Chelsea goal, but he will always be thought of as one of the club’s greatest players.
