Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri has confirmed he will ‘deal privately with’ assistant coach Marco Ianni after his gesture and celebration caused a touchline scuffle with Man United manager José Mourinho.
He told SkySports after the 2-2 draw against the Red Devils: “Sincerely, I did not see what happened. But I spoke with Jose, and of course then I spoke with my member of staff because I think we were on the wrong side. So I have dealt with it immediately. It’s private”.
Sarri added: “If I spoke with the member of staff and I have to be very hard, then I cannot come here and tell everything, otherwise with my staff I am not credible”.
“I am not really happy. After I spoke to Jose, I understood we were on the wrong side of the situation.”
