Wayne Rooney has said his side are full of confidence ahead of their visit to leaders Chelsea.

Louis Van Gaal’s United side have been written off since the beginning of the season, but they seem to have hit a purple patch in the past few weeks.

Chelsea will host United this weekend at Stamford Bridge and Blues boss Jose Mourinho knows his side can wrap up the title with three straight wins. However, the task seems difficult as they face third placed United, then travel to the Emirates to play Arsenal, before eventually travelling to Leicester.

But, United striker and captain Rooney says that, despite Chelsea’s excellent season, the Reds will arrive confident. He said:

“We are confident going to Chelsea. We’re in a good run of form and have beaten some good teams. It is a big test for us. They are top of the league and it is always tough at Stamford Bridge.

“They are in a commanding position. We just have to try and win our games and finish as high as we can. added the captain.”

United have lost only one of their last 10, winning their last six. The most recent of which was a 4-2 derby victory over Manchester City at Old Trafford. Chelsea however haven’t lost in their last 10, winning seven.
