Up and coming French defender Kurt Zouma has revealed the tactical guidance he has received from Jose Mourinho in recent months.
The 20-year-old starlet has been one of the revelations of the season and has admitted that Mourinho has been a huge aid in his progress.
Zouma already has a Capital One Cup winners medal to his name and looks like he will be a Premier League winner when the season ends, capping a highly impressive debut season.
The French international has filled in for Gary Cahill on a number of occasions at the heart of the Chelsea defence, as well as being thrust into midfield for the League Cup final.
Speaking to Goal Zouma said: “Mourinho puts pressure on all his players. It is very demanding – he wants perfection from everyone. He won’t let you take a month to fix something.
“In defence, he asked me to move tactically, to be well placed to listen to the older players around me, John [Terry] and Gary Cahill.
“Initially, in midfield, I was obsessed with the ball – I was not paying enough attention to the players behind me – but it’s something I’ve been working on. In midfield, it’s different. He asks me to use my power and stay in place to help the defence.”
