Chelsea could sign Giaccherini for cut-price

Furio Valcareggi, the agent of Chelsea target Emanuele Giaccherini, believes that his current club Sunderland will not have a big asking price for the unfavoured forward, despite impressing at the European Championship with Italy.

Giaccherini joined The Black Cats in 2013 for £6.5m. He made 43 appearances for the club in a stop-start manner and spent last year on loan at Bologna in his native Italy.

Valcareggi is seemingly pushing for a transfer to Chelsea, even more so now that Antonio Conte is almost on his way to Stamford Bridge.

“Giaccherini is a player who played 80 percent of the games for a Juventus that had [Paul] Pogba, [Andrea] Pirlo, [Arturo] Vidal and [Claudio] Marchisio in the midfield.

“Conte likes him a lot and Chelsea would be a dream. It’s still too early to talk about his future. After the Euros, whoever wants to buy him will not have to pay a high price to Sunderland.”
