Chelsea are considering a move for PSG’s Javier Pastore in January in order to bolster their attack following their poor start to the season.
The Blues beat Aston Villa 2-0 on Saturday and went up to 11th in the Premiership table. This season’s start is the worst they have had in a generation and their impotence going forward has been exposed following terrible showings from a number of key attacking players.
The club is exploring the possibility of bringing in the 26-year-old Pastore as soon as January in order to save their season and ensure that they at least qualify for the Champions League again.
Being ten points behind Manchester City it is already highly unlikely that Chelsea shall be retaining their Premiership crown, but a new attacking addition should at least give the club some optimism for the competitions it is still in as well as next season.
Pastore, once a first team choice at PSG, has made just eight appearances for the French champions as they, predictably, lead the Ligue 1 table once again. He has been pushed out of the team after the signing of Angel Di Maria from Manchester United in the Summer.
Should Chelsea acquire Pastore then it might lead to one of their under performing attacking players being shown the door. Oscar has constantly been linked with a move away and Eden Hazard was left out of Saturday’s win.
Pastore has also been linked with Liverpool and Arsenal.
