Inter striker Mauro Icardi is reportedly very close to extending his contract with Inter Milan.
The Argentine has been on Chelsea’s transfer radar for a long time and over the past month it looked increasingly that the odds where in favour of him signing for Chelsea next summer.
The Serie A side are prepared to offer the player €2.5m plus bonuses to remain with them, and they have also come to an agreement on his image rights. Earlier in the year the club and the forward’s agent held talks over his image rights, which threatened any possible agreement being made.
Inter have now agreed to his demands that he gets 100% image rights, but only on the grounds that there isn’t any conflict between his sponsors and the club.
The 22-year old has always stated that he is happy to stay at Inter as long as the contract was good for him, and this is not good news for Chelsea, who looked to be in a strong position to sign Maurito in the summer.
Jose Mourinho also sent some scouts to Italy to watch him but now it seems that the deal will be a complicated one to close.
