Chelsea are likely to fail in their bid to sign Jamie Vardy as the striker has begun negotiations with Leicester City over a new contract.
Vardy has been in superb form this season and recently broke the record for scoring in consecutive games- he did so for the 11th time against Manchester United on Saturday- and has taken the Foxes to 2nd in the Premiership table, only behind Manchester City on goal difference.
His form has been such that rumours are now abound that the country’s top clubs will seek to sign him with a bidding war possibly taking place in the upcoming January transfer market. ChelseaNews24 recently reported that Chelsea were one of those clubs, seeing Vardy as a potential answer to their travails in front of goal this season.
Hopes that Vardy could be persuaded to bring his scoring feats to Stamford Bridge have been dahsed, however, by reports that he not only wishes to see the season out with Leicester but that he will be offered a new, improved deal to remain there for the rest of his career. Vardy signed a four-year deal in 2014 and the Foxes are likely to improve his current wage package to ensure he is tempted by west London or anywhere else.
