Reports from English paper Evening Standard suggest that Chelsea are keen on Lazio new sensation, the Brazilian midfielder Felipe Anderson.
The attacking midfielder, only 21, is performing an impressive campaign in Serie A with 9 goals netted with ten fixtures to go and 6 assists provided. He missed some games for an injury and Lazio, that are fighting for a place in the next Champions League, had a slow inflection, and once he was recovered they notched up six wins in a row, with Anderson leading his team up to the third place in the table, the last one to qualify for UCL in Italy, just 1 point behind city rivals of Roma, who were fighting for the title in the beginning of the season.
The English top clubs of course smelled the big deal and sent their scouts to watch him in some Lazio recent games.
The Blues are thought to have had representatives at Lazio’s recent 2-0 win at Torino, in which Anderson claimed both goals, as well as at the 4-0 demolition of Fiorentina on March 9. The Brazilian did not score in that game but it was one of his most impressive displays this season.
Manchester City are also believed to have sent scouts, while sources in Italy say that Manchester United chief scout Jim Lawlor was in Rome last Sunday to watch him score one of the two goals in the Lazio 2-0 victory over Verona.
Felipe Anderson recently extended his contract with Lazio until 2020, two more years respect to the previous deal.
Anyway Lazio chairman, Claudio Lotito, will be ready to listen the European top clubs offers next summer, as he can cash an important amount of money selling such a wonderful player; but if Lazio will qualify for next Champions League it will be hard to snatch him from Rome: the Biancocelesti are now third in the table with 52 points, just one under their city rivals of Roma, second with 52, and 4 clear of Sampdoria, fourth in table with 48 points ahead of Napoli ( 47) and Fiorentina (46), so they got good chances to play the UCL next year.
