Queens Park Rangers and Brentford are keen to sign Chelsea defender Kenneth Omeruo.
The Nigerian played for Middlesbrough for the last season where he was on a loan from the Blues, but he made only five appearances during at the Riverside due to injuries. As a result of the poor season, Omeruo decided to announce his departure from the Championship club.
”It’s sad that our targets for this season wasn’t achieved. But for me personally, I learnt a lot by being here and it has been an experience I will forever cherish.
“The love you guys showed me, is overwhelming. Even when I was getting frustrated, you guys were behind me and supporting me.
“And this I will never forget no matter where I am next season. I want to thank the manager and the club for believing in me. And I have no doubt the manager will take this team to the Premier League. I am forever grateful to the boys for being such a wonderful team.. I will be cheering for you guys or with you guys.”
According to rumours, Herve Renard, the new manager of French side Lille, is more than interested in signing Omeruo.
However, Championship sides QPR and Brentford have joined the race for the defender’s signature.
Omeruo arrived at Chelsea in 2012, however he is yet to make his debut at Stamford Bridge as he was sent straight on loan to Middlesbrough.
He is currently under contract with Chelsea until June 2018.
