Liverpool, Manchester City and Chelsea held talks with Virgil van Dijk‘s representatives without permission from Southampton, according to reports in the DailyStar this morning.
It is understood that Reds “have ended any interest in the player” and Southampton are keen to keep the centre-back, who is still “not for sale” even if he handed in a transfer request earlier this summer.
The Dutchman was recently spotted in London with some friends, in a picture which has been removed following fans’ reaction about a possible move to Stamford Bridge.
“Nobody is for sale that we don’t want to sell and so he is not for sale in this window, – Saints’ chairman Krueger said – I don’t give definite answers where there isn’t a definite”.
“With all the knowledge I have today and all the information I have on my plate right now that is my answer as we are carrying our strategy through the summer and that’s it.”
