Domonic Solanke has become the latest Chelsea youngster to join Dutch feeder club Vitesse Arnhem, the Eredivise side has announced on its official Twitter account.
The move may come as a surprise to most Blues fans as it appeared Solanke, one of the brightest prospects to come out of the club’s academy, was going to be given a chance in the first team this season.
Manager Jose Mourinho was even quoted at the end of last season saying it would be a “mistake” to let Solanke go, but Vitesse Arnhem have confirmed the deal on Twitter, saying:
“Dominic Solanke will be training with Vitesse from Tuesday on.
“The attacker has a fine reputation as a proven goalscorer and represented England at Under-16, U-17 and U-18 .level.
“Club and player hope to agree terms shortly.”
He will be the fifth Chelsea player to join Vitesse on a short term basis
