Chelsea manager Antonio Conte told the club’s official website he expects a tough match against Arsenal today,

“I know we have had good results against Arsenal but we must know we face a good team in great shape – Conte admitted – They are a big rival but we must pay great attention, try to play good football and get a result”.

About Cesc Fabregas’ possible involvement today, Conte stated that he is ‘pleased with the attitude and commitment of Cesc during training sessions and the last games when he was called to come on’.

“I want to see this from all my players – he added – Cesc hasn’t played but it can happen to all of the players”.

Then about Arsene Wenger: “He has a great reputation, Wenger is doing a good job but it’s normal that when every year you fight for the title you want to win it, but to stay up there every year is not easy. When you watch Arsenal you see good football”.

“When you win, you must understand the way in which you win, I think it’s important because sometimes the win is a situation where there isn’t a solid base – Conte added – If I’m a director, when you can see good work every day in the training sessions, you can value the work. If a coach or manager is working well and you don’t win, I’m sure in the future you will win.”

“If I’m a director and I don’t see good work but the team still win, the future is not good.”

Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic believes new manager Antonio Conte is a great manager. The Serbia international told Chelsea TV“He is a great manager. You can see that from his results with Juventus and the great job he did with Italy. I want to use that to help me. I want to work with him to improve”.

“I hope he, his staff and all my teammates are happy with how I am working here because I really give my best every day and try to do my job to the best of my ability.”

Speaking about the Blues’ midfield, with new signing N’Golo Kante, Matic claimed: “If you see our games I think the midfield has played well. We fight for each other, and also if you see the last game against Leicester we did a good job. My role is more or less the same as before, but the only thing is now I can play maybe a little bit more offensively, maybe 10 per cent more than last season. I still have a difficult job and I have to run a lot”.

Chelsea lost their first game under new manager Conte in the last Premier League clash against Liverpool at Stamford Bridge.

“When we defend I have to be close to Kante to help him and the defensive line – Matic said – and when we attack I have more freedom than him to go forward, like for the goal against Liverpool. In that moment we were playing with two in midfield because we were losing. I took a little risk, Eden gave me a good ball between the lines and I used it well. I can attack sometimes!”

“We want to improve more and we can improve, as he has said to us a few times. He sees that every day” he added.

Then Matic gave his point of view on the title race: “It’s going to be very hard until the end of the season but what I see is that the team is ready, physically and mentally. We have quality too but it’s not enough to only have quality. You need to have character if you want to win a title or a cup, and we definitely have that in the changing room”.

Kick-off : Saturday 5.30pm

Venue : Emirates Stadium

Once again there’s a heavyweight clash between the two London giants, when Chelsea travel to the Emirates to face Arsenal on Saturday.

It’s also a game filled with flair, tension, aggression if previous meetings are anything to go by and has also favored the Blues in recent history with Blues edging the Gunners in the previous ten meetings, with W7 and D3.

Chelsea go into the game at the back of an impressive come from behind win against Leicester in the EFL cup after Premier League defeat to Liverpool, means confidence is high in the camp ahead of the game.

Fabregas was instrumental at the King Power and thanks to his extra time brace the Blues moved into the next round, and he’ll be looking to feature against his former club.

Aside Kurt Zouma and captain John Terry, there’s no other injury worries for Antonio Conte.

Arsene Wenger speaking on Diego Costa;

…[The best way to handle him is] by being completely cold-blooded, just focus on the game and don’t respond. Just try to negate hisqualities and his game. You need to be committed but by respecting the rules of the game and not responding. Last year we were a bit unlucky at Chelsea to be down to 10 men because we gota red card and it was[rescinded] after. In the other game, we deserved the red card because we were caught on a quality run by [Costa].

On Antonio Conte, Wenger said;

…He is doing well because he has started, they have started, in a very strong way. After that they have a littlebit slowed down against Swansea and of course they had the big game against Liverpool that they lost, but I think Liverpool had astrong start, a strong first half and they came back in the second half, so he [Conte] has done well.

Antonio Conte:

“I’m sure Arsenal will fight until the end to win the title because they’re a very good team,”

[They have young players, great technique, good players with good physical potential and organisation.”

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has expressed his own idea about the possibility of a “new Arsène Wenger” in a near future.

“It would be fantastic if somebody was able to stay for 20 years in one club. I think that there is satisfaction in both sides” Conte claimed.

“Sometimes I think that it’s important for the manager to know that he doesn’t always have to win, lose or draw.”

“If you judge only for the wins, sometimes you can make a big mistake and you’ll pay for this in the future.”

Then, about the troubled relationship between former Chelsea boss José Mourinho and Wenger, Conte confirmed: “I think that Wenger is doing a good job and I don’t want to go into a situation of Wenger or Mourinho.”

“I think that Arsenal have a good story. It’s an important team.”

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte is confident that his side can improve a lot also in the defensive situations despite having conceded 55 goals last season.

“It was already in the last season, Chelsea conceded 55 goals – the Italian manager confirmed – We must work a lot in this aspect to avoid these situations, if you want to think for a great championship you must not concede so many goals”

When we conceded goals the whole team conceded goal, not only the defense and this means that we must improve. Anyway, if the opponent think this, I think the opponent also think we can score a lot of goals.”

Chelsea defense is still conceding goals, maybe due to a lack of confidence or as a result of the absence of both John Terry and Kourt Zouma, who is still recovering from a knee injury.

Manager Antonio Conte, who previously told medias that Terry is not totally fit for tomorrow’s game, gave an injury update also about the French defender: “I hope to see him in the training session next week. He’s in a good shape, is fit and I hope to start counting on him to be in the team.”

When asked about Zouma’s availability after the international break, Conte added: “Maybe, there’s a possibility. Probably, we’ll wait one week more and he can play after the international break.”

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte believes that is ‘not necessary to push any player’ ahead of big clashes, such as the game against Arsenal in the Premier League match day 6 tomorrow.

“I think that it is not necessary to push any player when there this type of game, very tough with big games involved in, – Conte stated – Because I think these big games give great expectations so the players are already motivated.”

About the rivalry between Arsene Wenger and José Mourinho, Conte added: “I think that Arsenal have a good story, is an important team and I don’t want to enter situations between Mourinho and Wenger, who is doing a good job”.
