Chelsea’s manager Maurizio Sarri is ready for tonight’s Europa League final vs Arsenal at Baku.

The Italian coach, during his pre-game press conference gave an update on the injuries’ situation for the Blues: “We are in trouble with the midfielders. We have only three midfielders for three positions. We are in trouble. N’Golo is very important. He is the only defensive midfielder that we have. We will try to recover him. N’Golo for us, it is a problem”. Sarri explained. “He had a little problem in his knee on Saturday. We are trying. It is not serious but it is the problem of three or four days. We will try, but right now we don’t know. 50/50, yesterday 60/40 for no, but now 50/50. He was a little better this morning”.

Today Sarri can win the first trophy in professional football, but he still doesn’t consider this the most important night in his career: “I don’t know. Because the feeling between coach and media is different. For media this is the most important of my life, for me maybe not”. the Italian claimed. “Maybe for me more important was a match in Serie B in Italy. I don’t know. Tomorrow I might be able to tell you my feelings. Not at the moment.”

Finally, Sarri gave also a message to all Chelsea fans especially those who couldn’t travel to Baku: “I don’t know what to say about the problems. You have to ask UEFA and the clubs. I am very disappointed. We do this job for this kind of match. We want our fans here. We will try to win for us and also for them”.

Tomorrow night Chelsea take on Eintracht Frankfurt at Stamford Bridge in the Europa League‘s semifinal second leg.

After last week’s draw in Germany, the Blues are favourite to reach the final, but speaking during his pre-game press conference, Chelsea’s manager Maurizio Sarri warns his team they have to forget the first leg’s result: “We have to play to win, without managing the results. That’s too dangerous (to do). It’s not easy because we play a very dangerous team, as we saw in the first leg”. Sarri explained. “They are very dynamic and aggressive in the defensive phase, and dangerous in the offensive phase especially when they find spaces on the counter-attack. So it’s a dangerous match.”

Chelsea have already qualified for the next Champions League, now the Europa League can allow the Blues to reach their second target for this season: “We reached the target of the club. And so we are really very happy with this”. Sarri went on. “Now we have to play in another competition and the target is to reach the final – the first target – and the final target will be to win the competition. Our feeling is that we deserve to win a trophy, so it’s a very important match, of course.”

Finally, Sarri gives an injury-update, revealing N’Golo Kante will be back only if Chelsea will reach the final: “Kante had a problem with his hamstring, not really a very serious one but he needs to rest for a couple of weeks. So we can try to recover him only in case we reach the final.”

Speaking during his pre-game press conferenceChelsea‘s manager Maurizio Sarri gave some injuries’ updates and there are good news regarding German defender Antonio Rudiger.

Rudiger is okay,” Sarri reported. “We are trying to recover Kante but I am not sure at the moment”.

Also, the Italian spoke about Callum Hudson-Odoi surgery: “The operation of Callum went in the right way. He will be back here in one or two days”. Sarri went on. “He needs time now. Callum is a very strong young man, physically and mentally. I am sure he will be able to return better than before.”

Also, Maurizio Sarri underlined the importance of Sunday’s game vs Manchester United as the Blues want to qualify for the next Champions League. “The match is clear. At this moment it’s a very important match, probably more than important for our target. We will try to win of course, but we need not to lose. It’s a very difficult match for both”. Sarri explained. “We have to play against opponents with a very high level of motivation after the Manchester derby. They have a chance of the top four. Of course they need to win all the last three matches. But we need to gain points too. We need to fight and try in every way.”

French midfielder N’Golo Kante is aware the importance of winning the Europa League for Chelsea:

We can make the season beautiful by winning the Europa League,” said Kante. “That’s the only title we can win now, so it would be great to win the Europa League. I think at the beginning of the game it was a good feeling to score three goals like this. The most important thing was to qualify. We’ll go into the semi-final with confidence and we hope to qualify for the final.”

The Blues, as said by Kante, are confident, however, the midfielder doesn’t consider Maurizio Sarri‘s team the favourite to lift the trophy: “We’re not favourites; we played a good match and we will do all we can to get to the final,” Kante went on. “But we’re not favourites. It was important for us to win this game. I think it’s important to be in the semi-finals, it was our target. We played a good game, it was difficult in the second-half but we got what we wanted and we are happy for that. I think they worked very well, they tried to push more and scored two beautiful goals. And after that we managed to hold on to keep the win.”

After Chelsea‘s heaviest Premier League defeat, Blues midfielder N’Golo Kante tried to find the reasons of Sunday’s tremendous loss with Manchester City.

It’s difficult to explain,’” Kante told Chelsea official website. “They outclassed us. It was a collective failing. They outclassed us from the first minute to the last minute, and they made the difference in the first minutes of the first half. It was very difficult to come back from that”.

All the Blues players, however have to react and the busy schedule of the next few weeks can help them to do so: “It’s a great disappointment and we have to react. It’s difficult to accept such a heavy defeat, but we have a lot of matches coming up to lift our heads and give us hope for good results at the end of this season”. the French midfielder went on. “We all have disappointment etched across our faces, but we`ve got a lot to learn from this, and hopefully we will not repeat the same mistakes in the future.”

Also Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson gave his thoughts on the London derby which Maurizio Sarri‘s men were able to win at Selhurst Park, thanks to N’Golo Kante‘s goal in the 55th minute.

Speaking in his post-match press conference, Hodgson told journalists: “We couldn’t be more adventurous unless we wanted to get beaten 4-0 or 5-0It wasn’t one of our better days technically so we could have opened ourselves up for 40 minutes and see them exploit the spaces, or we could try and do what we did and keep things tight and the keep the game under some sort of control until 20 minutes from the end and try to take our chances”.

“That’s what we did but it didn’t work as we didn’t score. It was the sort of game where we could have played better on the ball, and they were very, very good in terms of their organisation and structure, so it was going to be a tight game if we could keep it tight. That’s why we lost the game 1-0 and not by a lot of goals.”

He added: “They were very good, but in the first half our discipline was very focussed and we limited their goalscoring chances, and apart from their offside goal I thought we did quite well.

“After they scored the goal we missed two opportunities but we couldn’t get hold of the ball enough as they kept it too well and we weren’t able to get it from them.”
