Speaking with French radio station RTLChelsea‘s striker Olivier Giroud admitted he is not happy about how things are going for him at Stamford Bridge.

Giroud started just one of the Blues’ last 16 Premier League games: “Of course it is frustrating. Today, I feel like there is no competition since January”. Giroud said. “It is like that, I know that I will only play in the Europa League and I will try to do everything I can to be as effective and decisive as possible for the team.”

Then, at the end of the season, Chelsea’s striker can decide to leave both the club and England: “The future could be hectic this summer,” Giroud went on. “I am not scared of going down a level to have more playing time. It could be that I end my career in France.”

Speaking during his press conference ahead of tomorrow’s night Carabao Cup semifinal vs TottenhamChelsea‘s manager Maurizio Sarri gave some injury’s updates.

Pedro, Willian and Giroud are doing better, yesterday they had training with their team-mates, with the group”. the Italian explained. “I don’t know if they will be able to play tomorrow, maybe not for 90 minutes.’

On the other hand, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, who left the pitch during Saturday’s Fa Cup game at Stamford Bridge vs Nottingham Forest won’t be part of the team tomorrow at Wembley: “Loftus-Cheek of course is out now, we have to understand the situation with his back because in the last month he was in trouble.” Sarri added.

Then, Sarri also spoke about January transfer window: he admitted he thinks Fabregas should leave Chelsea, but, in that case, the club must sign a replacement: “I can say only my opinion. I don’t know the decision of the club. In my opinion he needs to go. You know very well the situation and in this club there is a rule, the renewal for players over 30 is usually one year, he has an offer for three years and I don’t want a very important player like Cesc not happy, but that’s only my opinion, it depends on the club”. Sarri claimed. “If Cesc will go of course we need a replacement. Now with the midfielders we are in trouble because I don’t know about the situation with Loftus-Cheek, if it’s serious or not, without Cesc we only have five so we need a replacement.”

Chelsea‘s manager Maurizio Sarri was disappointed after his side’s draw tonight vs Southampton at Stamford Bridge.

We played very good for 80 metres of the pitch, then in trouble for the last 20 metres. It is not easy to create a lot of goal opportunities in this kind of match. It was not easy. If you can get the first goal you can create opportunities”. the Italian explained. “We have to solve the problem of the last 15-20 metres. In the last matches we have been in full control. For us it is not easy to score the first goal. We have to solve this problem”.

Maybe a solution can come from the January tranfer window, but Sarri claimed it’s the board who will decide to sign or not another striker: “I don’t know, I am not in control of the market. I have to think about the pitch, improving my team and the offensive phase”. Sarri underlined. “We are good to build up the action, we have to improve in the last 20 metres. The club know my position, it is up to the board”.

Tonight score could have been different, but, in the most controversial moment of the game the referee disallowed Alvaro Morata‘s goal: “It was too far from the bench to see it clear”. Sarri admitted. “I saw the two goals by Giroud in the last match, I don’t know if he was offside in that match, it was difficult. I have no idea about this goal”.

Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri has provided an injury update on two players: Cesc Fabregas and Olivier Giroud.

The Spaniard suffered a neck problem ‘in the last five minutes of training’ earlier this morning, while the French striker was replaced by Alvaro Morata in the second half of the Blues’ away win against Crystal Palace.

Speaking at a press conference, Sarri told journalists “Fabregas is a neck problem”.

He added: “The injury was in the last five minutes of training, so I’m not sure about whether he has to rest for two or for ten days. I don’t know about the moment.

About Giroud, he said: “The problem is his ankle. I don’t know the severity. We have to wait for tomorrow. I think that, later in the evening, I will see the doctor for the first results, but I think the real result will only be known tomorrow.”

“We are in trouble because, in January, we have to play every three days.”

Alvaro Morata was surprisingly left out of Chelsea selected squad to face Manchester City tonight: the Spanish forward had some really disappointing performances in the last few games, so it is possible the former Real Madrid striker was sent to the stands because of his lack of form.

Blues boss Maurizio Sarri explained his choice:

“I guess we needed someone up there to have more pace and speed, so Pedro plays as a 9 today: I preferred to bring Olivier Giroud on the bench, it’s a tactical choice, Morata is not injured”.
