Chelsea have announced wing-back Marcos Alonso has put the pen to paper on a new and improved five-year contract at Stamford Bridge earlier this morning.
The Spaniard, who’s now contracted with the Blues until June 2023, told Chelsea’s official website: “I am so happy to stay here longer and to keep playing for one of the best teams in the world. It’s been a very good two seasons and I am looking forward to more.”
Alonso was among Antonio Conte‘s first signings at the beginning of his Chelsea reign in August 2016 as he joined the future Premier League champions on a £23m move from Fiorentina.
The left-back is enjoying a brilliant start to the season also under new Blues’ manager Maurizio Sarri, who’s already hailed him as a “world-class defender”.
